game blog: La Corda d'Oro (PSP version)

Yay, I beat La Corda d'Oro on the PSP for the first time~

Hihara ending~

On the playthrough and the selections:

In the beginning, I didn't really know what I was doing (I was practicing alone a few times in the practice room!!) so I did pretty badly during the first selection and didn't get anyone to warm up to me. I played Gavotte A...and got 7th place. I didn't practice the song with the crowd much...and I don't think I had any keywords. I finally started understanding the game more after that and ran around like crazy trying to find those damn fairies.

I played Ave Maria (forgot which one) for the 2nd selection...had only one keyword though. Got 5th place. But, I managed to buy the 2nd outfit that Hihara likes. *nods*  I started making use of those stat tools that you can buy after that, and I played for the crowd a lot...and kept making Hihara listen to boost up intimacy point. I uh, didn't pay attention at all to rivalry points (didn't know that was important as well). I gave Hihara a trumpet...keychain. Yeah. Wasn't his favorite though.

Had some dream about Romance C with...Amou, I think. Don't quite remember who, but it made it so that I could practice the song until it reaches 150...I had the song at around 107 or something like that when I played it for the 3rd selection. Had 2 keywords. I was really surprised when I got 2nd and went..."Ooooh, so that's how this works."

So, when I had a dream for Kiniro no Corda B, I started practicing that like crazy and trying to up 彩華 to get Hihara's rivalry up. In the process...I managed to get Yunoki's rivalry up pretty high. >_> All those bravo points, I guess. I didn't start looking for the rest of the fairies until the last 2 days after I finished practicing the song and getting Hihara's rivalry up...so I didn't find all the fairies. D= I didn't even get around to talking to all the participants on the last day since I was still running around trying to find the fairies. Good thing I at least talked to Hihara. Final selection I played Kiniro no Corda B with it at 150 with 2 keywords. First place!!!!! With Hihara in second. :D

My results for the last selection. I didn't take a pic of the overall scores...since I didn't think they'd be readable. Hee, the name I've been using in all these Japanese games is 林るうか. I even made them call me ルカヒアfor the nickname...which is just soo weird since it's even longer than the non-nickname.

Overall, I came in first (yayyyyyy), Fuyumi came in 2nd (*squeals*) and haha, Tsukimori came in 3rd (and Hihara 4th). I was very amused by how well Fuyumi did.

But yay! At least I did get the ending I wanted even though my beginning was pretty bad. I didn't get a lot of the events though. And I totally ignored all the other characters except Hihara. >_> The ending was kind of disappointing though. Haha, I thought there'd be more. I was happier at winning first then at the confession. ^^;; Or maybe that's just me...

想い出 (memories)

Darn, I'm still missing so much!!! But...is this 想い出 (replay of memories and such) only doable in this PSP version? Or was it available for the PS2 version as well? I think it's pretty neat. :D I only bought the PSP version instead of the PS2 version because I only have one other game for the PSP...which is pretty sad. It meant I wasn't using my PSP at all before this...only as a media player. >_> (I also thought that it'd be less embarrassing if someone decided to watch what I was playing...but there weren't any embarrassing scenes at all, in my opinion...rather, I got weird looks for the music.)

想い出の演奏(music)

Protagonist: 6/51 ):
Rival: 24/78
(Well...6 people x 4 selections...I guess I'll have to replay to get the rest...)
BGM: 28/31
(I wonder what the last two are...)
Ensemble: 3/54
(Damn, I really didn't get around to these...I only played Gavotte with Hihara, Ave Maria with some random flute player, and G線上のアリアwith Hihara and a random piano player. I suck at classical music so I don't even know what that last song's called in English but I really like how it sounds. I definitely have to do more ensembles next time.)

想い出の場面 (Special scenes) : 10/107 (9%)

These are the still screenshots. I'm sad. Only 9% complete. I only got four screenshots of Hihara even though I aimed for him. I also got one of Amou and one of Ousaki...of all people. I barely talked to them! (Oh wait...I did give Ousaki some slippers. Hm.) And then I have 4 pics of the violin breaking and all that...

想い出の記憶 (Special memories) : 3/16 (19%)

These are animated scenes. Opening, kiseki no hajimari, and one with Hihara's footsteps up the stairs from the ending. I guess all the characters have the staircase one...but that still doesn't add up. *wonders what the rest are*

想い出のひととき: 4/39 (10%)

I think these are special events outside of the game that you can get...I got one for clearing the game once. Lili talks with you and then Amou comes to interview you. I also got one for clearing the game with a song selection with 150 exp and winning 1st place. Hihara chatted with Tsuchiura in that one, talking about how he was deeply touched by the protagonist's music. Darn, I should have been able to get some of the others too...like the one with "learn all 16 skills" and so forth...I was only missing 1 skill.

想い出の時間 : 135/541 (24%)
These are special scenes that occur during gameplay. Hee, I was happy to see that a lot of scenes in the manga/anime were based on these! The ending's also included. Haha...I replayed Hihara's confession/ending. It was somewhat different from the one I got because in this one, when Amou interviews him, she asks him about how he feels for winning first place...which, he didn't win in my playthrough.

Protagonist: 24/31 (77%)
Darn...why do I still have missing scenes for this...my favorite is probably Yunoki and Hihara, when they talk about how Hihara mistook Yunoki for his 'senpai' back in first year. Hehe. Love that scene. I also really liked Shimizu's scene in the concert room. Amou wonders what Shimizu's doing (he keeps switching seats to see which one has the best view of the stage) and Fuyumi comes over to tell him that it's his turn to clean up his classroom. Shimizu is so adorably clueless that whatever concert he was there for was already over. XD;;
Tsukimori: 7/67 (10%)
So little...well, it's true that I barely talked to him...
Tsuchiura: 10/65 (15%)
Just as little as Tsukimori...
Shimuzu: 6/62 (9%)
Ahaha...even less than Tsuchiura!
Hihara: 30/64 (46%)
I can't believe it...I talked and stalked Hihara all throughout the game...and I haven't even completed half of his scenes!! D= But I guess it's not possible to get all the scenes in one playthrough since only certain scenes activate...
Yunoki: 18/63 (28%)
Huh, surprising, I got a lot of scenes involving Yunoki though I didn't go out of my way to do that.
Fuyumi: 10/56 (17%)
Aw, she only has 56 scenes...
Amou: 12/34 (35%)
Well...I guess Fuyumi doesn't have it too bad...
Kanazawa: 8/48 (16%)
Ousaki: 10/51 (19%)

Haha, this is the first time I actually finished a romance simulation game. *has not even finished Tokimeki girl's side even once. Only my brother in that game likes me. Boo. Actually, I just haven't figured that game out yet.* The fact that there was a competition involved in this game made it much more interesting for me. So many skills to train too. 0_0;; Though, it did make it feel that the 'love' side of it was not as important. Hino's a busy, busy girl. I probably shouldn't have just focused on Hihara. I didn't need his intimacy points that high. ^^;; If I hadn't just focused on him...I probably could've gotten a lot of other scenes too...

Eh, completing the entire gallery/memory section is kind of daunting. And all that fairy searching... *shivers* But for a first playthrough...I don't think I did too badly?

On taking screenshots on the PSP:

I really want to take screenshots of my games...so I tried looking up how to do that. It seems that this is only possible with homebrew PSP applications? D= My PSP is already at 2.60 and most homebrew applications are only compatible with 1.50. I guess I could downgrade...but they say there's a 91% success rate. That means there's a 9% chance that my PSP could *die* from this procedure. So I'm going to stay away from that. But damn. WIth devhook or PSPshot or whatever, I'd be able to take nice, clear screenshots and even videos of my gameplay. D=

There seems to be programs that let you run homebrew...a homebrew application used to run other homebrew applications. Don't know how they work though. -_-;;

But yeah. No downgrading for me. I just took a few pics with my digital camera. Can you tell that I have a screen protector on my PSP screen? It sort of has a rainbow effect that is just so apparent in pics. Don't want to take it off though. D=

Ooh. ^o^ I picked up the manga over the past weekend (volumes 1 and 2), because it seems the episodes/website you gave me aren't/isn't... there anymore? Oo;; I shall try again some time. ^^

The game sounds like fun! Good luck on the screencapping.

Awesome!! (that you picked up the manga~!) I don't even have any of the manga! I just have the game. :3 Haven't had a chance to go out and buy any manga lately.

Huh, if you can't find the episodes on bittorrent, [info]icerydragon has put together a wonderful fansite and has all the episodes subbed so far up on ddl links. :D (Hee, I'm one of the staff there.)

This series is making me get into classical music. XD;; Which, I had almost no clue about before this!

I fear I couldn't resist after seeing the mood theme. Volume 1 was on the bookshelf.. tempting me. I flipped through it, just to see it, and I ended up buying it and volume 2. XD

And uwah... I must wander over there. Thank you. ^^

I love classical music. *ish a dork* This should be great. ^_____^

Do tell me if you like it! ♥

Ahaha, I've starting replaying the game. I'm starting to know some of the songs that have been appearing more, which just feels awesome. These classical songs are soo pretty! :D

I've read the first chapter and watched the first two episodes and I must say I'm enjoying it. ^_____^ Hearing the classical music pieces in the anime makes me happy, especially when I recognize them. o.o
